An Unforgettable Outdoor Cake Smash

If there is one session that I will never forget, it has to be this. We had gone over all the details for this session, planned everything perfectly, checked the weather forecast multiple times. After setting up the cake smash, I started off with some baby shots without the cake to get him warmed up but just in a matter of a few minutes the weather changed considerably and I could see the drastic change in the background in my pictures.

We managed to quickly get out the cake and just as I clicked the first picture of the little one with the cake, it suddenly started pouring! The venue that we had chosen had barely any shade but we somehow managed to wrap up the set up and pack my camera equipment to save it from the rain. But the rain was relentless, we were fully drenched and stuck at that venue for over two hours.

I came back home freaking out about my cameras and lenses and extremely worried about the pictures that we took since the evening turned out to be chaotic. But when I shared these pictures with the family and got their amazing feedback, I was thrilled beyond imagination. We did round 2 of the cake smash session at a later date but all we could even discuss on that day was our crazy experience of the chaotic session and how we still managed these pictures in just 12 minutes, yes that's exactly how long our first session lasted. Unbelievable right?
